Second Summit Consignment

Ragged Mountain Equipment’s Second Summit™ consignment program is a great opportunity to give your quality and cared-for gear and clothing a second life while putting some money back in your pocket.  The Second Summit™ program is one of many ways Ragged Mountain Equipment contributes to the responsible stewardship of our natural resources.

Simply bring in to our store your gently used, quality camping or hiking equipment for us to sell for you.  We have a few guidelines and conditions of the program:

  • Ragged Mountain accepts only items that are clean, sanitary, and in good condition, and items that are consistent with our brand and related to the products we sell in our store.
  • We DO NOT accept: climbing or safety gear (e.g. crampons, ice axes/tools, harnesses, etc.), Nordic skates, roof racks, downhill skis and boots, snowboards and boots, individual or component parts, or any dirty, broken, or excessively worn items. Ragged Mountain may refuse to accept any item at its sole discretion.
  • Customer determines each item’s initial selling price; Ragged does not accept items priced under $25.
  • The Period of Consignment for items is 180 days from the date of this Agreement.
  • Ragged Mountain is not liable for any loss of, or damage to, any item placed on consignment.
  • Customer may reduce the asking price of one or more unsold items during the Period of Consignment a maximum of one time. This must be done in person after showing appropriate identification.
  • After 180 days, the Customer agrees to pick up all unsold items. Items remaining after 190 days become the property of Ragged Mountain Equipment, and at its discretion, Ragged Mountain Equipment may donate those items to a local charity or dispose of them.  Ragged Mountain will attempt, but is not obligated to, notify the Customer when these actions will be taken - responsibility for picking up unsold items is the sole responsibility of the Customer.  A Customer may retrieve their unsold items at any time before the end of the Consignment Period.

If you'd like us to place your consignment item on our website, we would be happy to do so.  We charge a non-refundable fee of $20 to cover the costs of taking pictures and listing the item.  While this may not make sense for most items, if you are consigning a unique or high value item, it might make sense.

If and when we sell your item, you can receive compensation either in the form of a check you can cash or deposit, or in the form of Ragged Mountain store credit.  If you request compensation in the form of a check, we will split the final sales price 50% with you, paid by a check mailed to your mailing address within 30 days of the item selling.

If you would like to be compensated with a Ragged Mountain store credit, we will give you a store credit in the amount of 65% of the final sales price.  You may use that store credit at any time and it does not expire.
