Ascent Gaiters

Availability: Out of stock

Quick Overview

Our top-of-the-line Ascent Gaiters meet the tough requirements of serious outdoor users: waterproof/breathable Avalite uppers, doubled and reinforced coated nylon lowers, a sculpted fit, and solid adjustments and closures. It's all here, and it's all easy to work with while wearing gloves or mitts. The front closure is wide hook-and-loop from top to bottom, with generous pull-tabs. The top seals with a one-handed drawcord/cordlock combination. Best of all, the lower strap that runs under your boot cinches down securely with one tug, but is fully replaceable if you chew it up on rocky terrain.
Many seasons of experience went into these gaiters, and it shows - with superior performance, excellent fit, and a sharp, clean look.

The Ascent Gaiters are the culmination of years of design refinement, and as a result, they have gained the respect of numerous White Mountain guides and outfitters. With their 17" height, these gaiters provide serious coverage, and perform dual functions: keeping snow out of your boots, and protecting your pants and boots from crampon slashes, metal-edge gashes, and meltwater splashes.
The Ascent's main body is built from waterproof/breathable Avalite fabric to protect you from rain, snow and slush without letting moisture build up within. The lower section, top edge, and front placket are armored with double layers of 400-denier reinforced coated nylon for superb abrasion and puncture resistance. Much research has gone into the sculpted fit of the lower spat to reduce the wrinkles and puckers that snag crampon points and invite abrasion.
A great seal from the elements is achieved by a combination of features unique to the Ascent Gaiter. First, a wide hook-and-loop front closure prevents snow from entering when you're breaking trail in deep drifts or carving turns in the powder on the way down. No zipper means no zipper-pull to fumble for when wearing heavy gloves or mitts.
Secondly, snaps secure both the top and bottom of the front placket, and there's an easy-pull tab at the top, and a nice lace-hook on a tab at the bottom to keep things snug until you're ready to break the seal. A drawcord with captive cordlock up top means you can cinch the below-the-knee opening with a one-handed tug.
Lastly, there's an adjustable webbing strap that runs beneath your boot-sole to crank that cuff down nice and flush. Knowing the abuse to which it will be subjected, we made that strap replaceable, thus avoiding early gaiter retirement or expensive repairs.
When considering all the advantages of these Ascent Gaiters, remember this very important one: there's a pretty good chance you've got some real expensive pants on as you head out for that ice climb, winter peak ascent, or backcountry couloir. Doesn't it make sense to protect your investment from that inevitable stumble while wearing sharp crampons, or carving on freshly-honed edges?
