Details

Ragged Mountain's Cush Gear Sling is a favorite among alpine climbers, ice climbers, aid climbers and trad rock climbers. This padded sling is built on a full-strength, bartacked 11/16" runner, to which we added some 2" flat webbing and fleece padding across the top to spread the weight comfortably over your shoulder. It's remarkably light, but load this one up with trad gear, aid gear or ice screws, and it still won't dig in. The bottom of the loop has been rolled into a tight round cross-section and stitched that way. The result is a perfect profile for clipping and unclipping carabiners without snagging on their gates.
Do you usually rack on your harness? Sometimes that works great, but it can be problemmatic if you're wearing a pack or if you added a windshell after the fact. Our Cush Gear Sling solves that problem, and comes with an added bonus: you can take the whole pile off and clip it to the anchor (use the isolated topside carabiner slot to keep everything in order). It's such a relief to unburden yourself at the belay, or when you get to the top of the route. Headed for another climb? In one motion, you can just drop your loaded-up Cush into your pack and head down the cliff with your harness still on, and you won't have to go jangling down the trail sounding like a traveling junk show.
One last thing: because the Cush is full-strength (six bar-tacks join the ends), it makes a great fall-back option for anchoring when you get to the ledge and realize you've used all your slings and quickdraws. Even if you resort to that trick just once, your Cush will have earned its proud place among your favorite gear.
